The Global Advisory Board brings together current and former senior officials from central banks, finance ministries, financial regulators and international organisations across the United Kingdom, continental Europe, Asia, and North and South America.

The Board provides independent external perspectives on CETEx’s strategy, policy priorities and impact regarding economic transitions across advanced and emerging market economies.

During the inaugural meeting, members discussed key challenges and opportunities shaping climate and nature transitions globally, including:

International geopolitics and avenues for progress on climate and nature
Members reflected on the increasingly complex geopolitical environment and its implications for climate and nature policy. While noting challenges across a range of international fora, they also highlighted opportunities for progress through coalitions of the willing, regional cooperation, and institution-specific leadership.

Discussion focused on areas where momentum continues to build, including monetary policy and operations, fiscal and sectoral policies, transition finance, private capital mobilisation, and nature-related initiatives that are advancing policy development and good practices.

Empowering policy-making institutions to accelerate the transition
Members explored opportunities for CETEx to further support policy-making institutions through thematic and country-specific initiatives. Discussions highlighted a range of international and in-county opportunities to better equip central banks, finance ministries, development banks and multilateral institutions with research, policy analysis and targeted capacity-building.

Rob Patalano, Executive Director of CETEx and Chair of its Management Steering Committee, stated:
“I’m grateful for the commitment of the members of the Global Advisory Board to provide strategic advice based on their substantial policy expertise and judgment. I look forward to bringing these insights to CETEx’s management to refine our strategy and further strengthen our policy impact in the year ahead.”
