This event marks the official launch of the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS) and the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action (CFMCA) informal dialogue series. This informal dialogue initiative aims to bring together senior representatives from central banks, finance ministries, and key institutional partners to explore the strategic roles and coordination of central banks and finance ministries in navigating the macroeconomic dimensions of climate change and the low-carbon transition.

Objectives:

  • Frame a shared agenda for collaboration between central banks and finance ministries on climate-related macroeconomic risks and opportunities, while maintaining respect for their distinctive mandates and institutional independence.
  • Highlight the rationale for closer alignment and exchange between monetary and fiscal authorities in supporting a resilient, low-carbon transition.
  • Showcase country experiences and institutional innovations that illustrate effective coordination and learning across mandates.
  • Announce the dialogue series and outline its structure, thematic focus areas, and timeline, and provide the opportunity for input to shape a common interest agenda.

Participants will include representatives from central banks, finance ministries, other key institutional partners (e.g. IMF, World Bank, BIS, OECD) and selected academics and thought leaders.
