CETEx was delighted to be in Indonesia at the end of last month as part of its second official visit to the country, engaging with policymakers, academic partners, alumni and other key stakeholders on sustainable and inclusive economic transition.

As part of this broader mission which was led by Herlina Utamawati, CETEx visited the Institute for Economic and Social Research at the University of Indonesia (LPEM-FEBUI) for a productive exchange on current research and future collaboration opportunities.

The visit culminated in the signing of an MoU, formalising a partnership focused on advancing research, academic exchange and policy engagement, with the shared aim of contributing to global discussions on sustainable and inclusive economic transition.

LPEM FEB UI is one of Indonesia’s leading academic research institutes and the largest research community at the University of Indonesia. For more than 60 years, it has played a central role in shaping evidence‑based policy through research, consultation and education.

The MoU with LPEM FEB UI forms part of CETEx’ wider engagement in Indonesia, which included meetings with government stakeholders, research exchange with local partners and convening activities across policy, finance and sustainability. Indonesia represents a key country of focus for CETEx, given its strategic role in the global energy transition and broader economic transformation.

During the visit, CETEx also co-hosted an LSE alumni event in Indonesia, featuring a fireside‑chat discussion on policy, markets and sustainability. The event introduced CETEx and its work in emerging markets — including on fiscal and monetary policy, critical minerals and climate‑related economic transitions — to members of the Indonesian LSE alumni community who are actively shaping government, industry and civil society agendas.

CETEx is keen to deepen engagement with the LSE alumni network in Indonesia, both to share its work and to better understand local priorities and perspectives. These exchanges will help inform CETEx’s ongoing and future work in the country and lay the foundations for longer‑term collaboration, including potential future engagements with LSE leadership.

We look forward to building impactful and sustained partnerships across Indonesia.
