Christina leads CETEx’s work on sovereign debt and debt sustainability at the LSE’s Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment. She is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Economics at The Open University and an associate of St Edmund Hall, University of Oxford.

She holds a PhD in Economics from SOAS, University of London, where she defended a thesis on debt sustainability that was awarded the 2022 Joseph Dorfman Best Dissertation prize. She has held research and teaching posts at SOAS, UCL, Duke University, King’s College London and Columbia University. Christina uses her expertise to advise on debt and development issues to organisations such as UN Women, the OHCHR’s Independent Expert on foreign debt and human rights, UNCTAD, and several NGOs working on sovereign debt issues. Her work has been published in World DevelopmentEuropean Economic ReviewDevelopment and Change, and History of Political Economy, among others.
