Response to UK Government consultations on sustainability disclosures and transition plans

Rob Patalano issues comments in response to the launch of the UK Government’s consultations on the taking forward commitments on transition planning, and new UK Sustainability Reporting Standards on 25 June 2025.

Rob Patalano, Executive Director and Professor in Practice at the Centre for Economic Transition Expertise, said 

“We welcome the UK Government launch of the consultations on UK Sustainability Reporting Standards, transition plans, and ESG assurance. 

Clear, consistent, and comparable information on the climate risks and opportunities companies face is fundamental to scaling green and transition finance. 

Transition plans, in particular, are a vital tool to help companies navigate risks and investors allocate capital. It’s encouraging to see this important agenda move forward. We look forward to reviewing the proposals in detail and engaging closely with the UK Government throughout the consultation process.”
