Pekka Moren has over 30-year experience on economic, fiscal and financial policies working for Finance Ministries in Finland and internationally; as well as on economic of climate and nature policies. He is the Co-founder of the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action, the Finnish initiative launched in 2018, acting as the Special Representative of the finance minister between 2019-2023 with the task establish the Coalition and act as co-chair. In 2023-2025 he served as Representative of the Finnish Prime Minister at Climate Club of Heads of States or Governments.
He has a broad experience on financial stability management, financial markets, economic policy coordination, EU’s economic integration and international financial institutions. He served during 2001-2018 in the Finnish finance ministry as Director on International Financial Affairs, Director on Euro Area Stability and Director on Financial Stability. During 2003-2008 he served at the Secretariat of EU’s Economic and Financial Committee and Economic Policy Committee in Brussels. Between 2016-2024 he acted as board member of the Nordic Investment Bank for Finland.
He currently acts as Financial Counselor at the Finnish finance ministry; and serves as the Global Advisor to the co-chair team Uganda of Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Actions; and is the Chair of Green Economic Management Ltd. consultancy. He holds a M.Sc. in Social Sciences (Economics).
