About the event

Emerging markets and developing economies (EMDEs) are pursuing rapid economic growth while committing to net zero targets — yet face mounting geopolitical tensions, limited support from advanced economies, and tight fiscal constraints. In this context, carbon pricing mechanisms (carbon taxes, Emissions Trading Systems, or hybrids) have emerged as a key policy tool to drive low-carbon growth and mobilise clean investment.

The roundtable will be focused on carbon pricing as a decarbonisation instrument and the role it plays in conjunction with other policies that exist in a country’s regulatory landscape, the challenges being experienced in its implementation, and solutions and best practices from across the world.

The event will showcase cutting-edge research findings and policy innovations, focusing on best practices and innovative policy solutions.

Emerging economies are at different stages of implementing their carbon pricing mechanisms.

This event is being held as part of London Climate Action Week.
