Regional workshop at Biodiversity COP17
Wed 21 October 2026
Yerevan, Armenia

Co-organised by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), this regional workshop at Biodiversity COP17 will bring together central banks, financial regulators, financial institutions, businesses and third-party service providers to explore collaborative approaches to addressing nature-related risks and unlocking biodiversity-related opportunities.

The workshop will explore practical approaches to integrating biodiversity considerations into monetary and prudential frameworks, financial decision-making, corporate disclosure, and data and technical solutions. It will also consider ways to overcome data and capacity challenges, strengthen regional cooperation and help mobilise finance to address the biodiversity financing gap.

Elena Almeida, Head of Nature at CETEx, will participate in the panel discussion ‘Collaborative Action Across Central Banks and Regulators, Financial Institutions, Corporates, and Third-Party Service Providers’.

Drawing on CETEx’s expertise on nature-related financial risks and the economic and financial dimensions of the transition, Elena will contribute to the discussion alongside representatives from governments, financial institutions and international organisations. The panel will consider practical approaches to managing nature-related financial risks and opportunities, mobilising investment for nature-positive outcomes, overcoming data and capacity constraints, and strengthening cooperation across jurisdictions.
